M.I.D.D.A.S. Began operating in the early 1990's by the late Kevin Price and his surviving
partner, Teresa Price for whom noticed a need for improvement to the environment of Mental
Health Patients whilst interned in The Illawarra Public Hospital's Psychiatric Units.
Kevin, along with the other members began their campaign by staging a wheelchair ride from
THE WOLLONGONG PUBLIC HOSPITAL to SHELLHARBOUR PUBLIC HOSPITAL Psychiatric
Units.
Those patients who were interned at the time had affectionately nick-named Kevin "THE DONUT
MAN" as Kevin would arrive each Tuesday night with a baker's crate of donuts generously
donated by THE DONUT KING from WESTFIELD, WARRAWONG, for the enjoyment of both patients and staff.
Regretfully Kevin passed away in 2001 however his legacy lives on through his surviving
partner TERESA and Family members together with the MEMBERS of M.I.D.D.A.S.
With special permission from the Unit's administration M.I.D.D.A.S. has a memorial Plaque situated in one of the garden areas of ELOURA EAST at
SHELLHARBOUR PUBLIC HOSPITALS PSYCHIATRIC UNIT.
